Arson suspected after three overnight truck fires in Hillsboro

HILLSBORO, Mo. - Authorities suspect arson as the reason behind three truck fires early Friday morning in Hillsboro. The Hillsboro Fire Department responded to all three fires around 1:30 a.m. Friday. Two tow trucks and one pick-up truck ended up in flames in the 4900 block of State Road B. Top Story: Police search for Creve Coeur shopping center shooter Crews were able to extinguish all three fires relatively quickly, and no first responders or civilians were hurt from the situation. Hillsboro fire crews later reviewed evidence and determined all three fires were "purposefully and maliciously ignited." A woman is dead and two other people were injured after a driver allegedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol smashed into parked cars in Pacific Palisades early Saturday morning, sending them flying toward pedestrians on the oceanside rocks below the road.At about 12:45 a.m., a 21-year-old man who was driving under the influence was headed south on Pacific Coast Highway when he struck three parked cars on the shoulder next to the road, according to Officer Chavez of the Los Angeles Police Department.Of those three parked cars, two of them fell onto the rocks below, where three pedestrians were.A driver allegedly under the influence smashed into parked cars along PCH on April 8, 2023, sending them careening toward pedestrians on the oceanside rocks below. Former 49ers football star Aldon Smith was sentenced Friday to a year in jail for driving under the influence after he rear-ended a Recology truck in Redwood City in 2021 and allegedly offered the driver $1,000 not to alert police.Smith, the 49ers’ single-season sack record holder, will serve his time in San Mateo County jail, according to San Mateo County Superior Court records.The former pass rusher was arrested in December 2021 after the collision on an Interstate 280 off-ramp. (AP) — Driver Cody Ware won’t run at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend so he can focus on a personal matter, according to a statement from Rick Ware Racing on Saturday.The team asked for privacy for the Ware family.
