PITTSBURG — A Bay Area man has been convicted in a fatal shooting that occurred outside a known West Contra Costa drug house more than eight years ago.Andrew Cordova, 34, was convicted this month of second degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Deon Ward, who was shot multiple times on the 2100 block of Stanton Avenue in unincorporated Montalvin Manor on the morning of Oct. 4, 2015. Cordova and Ward allegedly got into a confrontation earlier, prosecutors say, before Cordova left the area, retrieved a gun, and fired at Ward.The case went unsolved for years. It wasn’t until 2019 that Cordova and his cousin, 27-year-old Michael Jeremy Collins, were arrested and charged with murder. PALO ALTO — A power outage affected thousands of customers in Palo Alto early Monday morning, likely due to a faulty transformer, according to Palo Alto Utilities.The outage, which began at 5:30 a.m. according to the utility, affected about 4,559 customers at its peak. As of 9:20 a.m., about 3,500 were still without power.The utility said in a social media post that the cause was likely related to a faulty transformer which could have been affected by the weather, as the Peninsula received aggressive early morning rainfall Monday morning.Update on power outage: The cause seems due to a faulty transformer, which crews are working to repair. (KRON) -- As more rain hits the Bay Area, you'll want to keep your rain gear handy. Monday's wet weather will hit in waves throughout the day.A heavy band drenched the Bay Area overnight Sunday into Monday prompting several flood advisories this morning in the North Bay that have since expired. DENVER (KDVR) — A man was arrested in connection to the death of a 43-year-old woman, whose body was found inside a Broomfield home at around noon on Dec. 14.The victim has not been identified. She was found by police who were called to a home in the 3100 block of Promontory Loop for a welfare check. Crews still on the scene of Aurora five-alarm apartment fire The suspect was identified as Daniel Krug, 43, and arrested on Saturday, Dec. 16. He was booked into the Broomfield Detention Center on a charge of first-degree murder.Krug is being held without bond pending the formal filing of charges by the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office.According to Broomfield police, no further details will be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation. A Utah mother of six who gave parenting advice via a once-popular YouTube channel called “8 Passengers” pleaded guilty Monday to four felony counts of second-degree aggravated child abuse for abusing and starving two of her children.Ruby Franke, wearing gray and white jail clothing, pleaded guilty to each of the first three charges individually and on the fourth said: “With my deepest regret and sorrow for my family and my children, guilty.”Judge John J. A 13-year-old boy who was pulled from a canal in northwest Miami-Dade last week has died, officials confirmed. On Dec. 12, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to to the scene where a 13-year-old reportedly jumped into a canal in the vicinity of 181 NW 85th Street.Divers pulled the teen out of the canal and he was then rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
